Girard Factory Prototype Model #1843

Like most of the other prototypes, this dark blue plastic gun is constructed in two halves and then glued together. The plastic is very thick and heavy. A dart gun, this prototype has a plunger which pulls back and locks, and then is released when the trigger is pulled. On the rear of the body of the gun is a crudely embossed indicator dial. An interesting aspect of this prototype is the logo embossed on the grips. This is the same Flash Gordon lightening bolt used on the Flash Gordon Water Pistol. Was this a Flash Gordon ray gun that was never produced? The gun is dated 1-8-52 and was made at the Marx Girard plant. The gun is identified by a model number and date which are handpainted on the butt of the gun (see below).
